180 Grain .30-30 Loads Anyone?

I have been using Hornady 180 grain round-nose bullets in my .30-30 for some time now.  In "The New Way of the Wilderness", Rutstrum claims to be using 180 gr. bullets at 2300 fps with 3031 powder.  Is anyone getting that velocity with this bullet, or was this a guestimate which he came up with (bearing in mind that cheap chronographs were not available when he wrote the book)?  I have found no loading data for this bullet; I backed off from 170 gr. data and am working up from there.  I'm using 31 gr. of IMR 4895 at present with no pressure signs.

I've tried a couple of loads in the past in order to approximate .303 Savage ballistics, they are: (1) 30.5gr/IMR4895/CCI/Fed/180RN Hornady/1905fps (very consistent out of a 20" BBL)   (2) 31.0gr/IMR3031/CCI/Fed/180RN Hornady/2085fps (I believe this was first published by Sam Fadala). Neither load showed excessive signs of pressure in my 336T, but use caution, especially with the IMR3031 load (I also had good accuracy with 29.0gr of IMR3031). I am going to try some 180gr cast (GC's), which I think I can get higher velocities without higher pressures if they are accurate and my lead is sufficiently hard to prevent leading.
