Question on Temp.
« on: July 06, 2008, 07:10:43 PM »
Hi

One more : yesterday was cold (for me  ;) - about 45 F
Usually I shoot at about 66 to 70F.

How much difference can this make in the speed of a load. I used the same
load that I had measured before as 2500fps - it only clocked 2390? ???

I think I used different brass before but I can't think it can make such a difference on its
own.

Cheers
Sweet.

I think you can drop as much as 100'/sec in velocity if the ambient temperature is below freezing.  I think there has to be something like a 70 degree difference in temperature before you can see a loss of velocity and the temperature has to be below freezing.  Not entirely sure, but think........            Sweet, different brands of brass can mean different capacities. DON"T be doin that! I'm guessing your brass caused your velocity variation not the temp.

 ;)

Thanks - I decided to load couple of the same load, just
different brass. I will then see what comes out speed wise
if i shoot them in one session where the temp. can't play a roll.

Cheers
