torpedoman - good comment.  It seems so many forget that the much vaunted mil-spec 1911A1s of both WW1 and WW11 fame were all made under government contract (ya know, government contract  = cheap and unreliable) yet they were the ones that made history.  Mikey.

This is a very strange--fun, but strange---little thread, it wanders and continues too live--like coffeshop conversations.
Shock buffs in carry weapons?!
Opinion!!! I don't think anyone who has actually fired ANY weapon under stress/suprise/suddeness will say that they felt any recoil. In the moment, there are other considerations.
You boys and gals may trust your life too a $500 weapon---I won't. That does not mean that I don't acknowledge the fact that it may work well, every time. It does mean that I, ME, JUST ME--refuse too take that chance.
Don't let my absolute admittance that my mind is made up, stop this conversation---I read the thread all the time.
Blessings

I own 2 1911's.  one is a 1927 Argentine, and the other is  The Norinco copy.  If I see a Norinco for $500 that hasn't been screwed with, I would buy it in a heartbeat!

Seems like back in the late 70's I bought a Colt Gov for less than 500 bucks.....can't get one for that price anymore, so we have to take inflation into consideration here on the 500 dollar thing.
2500 dollar weapons can fail too, it happens.  Hope for the best!
