Finally got my '03 custom Whelen done. Has a Ramline stock and Redfield 4X Widefield scope.

Construction is in full swing so, I haven't had time to go to the range, yet but, before the bluing process, it did better than expected?

I think it looks nice and I have one (not done yet) with wood and I think I
like yours and would like to get that stock to finish mine.
did you order from ramline or other ?

I had a hard time locating Ramline and it's been some time back so can't help much? My stock took much inletting to get this thing to fit? Be prepared to spend some time. They are not a drop in, as their advertisements say.

Yeah, after working on a 45 recently I now know there is no such thing as "drop in". Rifle looks great, SB.

It's not a custom built but a NIB: Remington 700CDL .35 Whelen
I just got back from picking this up an hour ago. I bought it from a guy on GunBroker but not on an auction....I contacted him and bought it direct for $475 shipped. My local dealer said he couldn't even go under $600 for the same rifle. Anyone intersted can contact me for his contact info. I would recommend him to anyone.
P.S. If you wanted a rifle and don't have the $$ up front he has a layaway plan for almost everything he sells.

six gunz, I have been watching those ads on GunBroker.  How does he make any $$ at those prices?  I bought a used, 1988 700 Classic for $500 several years ago and felt like I got a great deal.

The Whelen is my "go to" gun for elk.  Over the years I have also taken several as well as whitetail, antelope, and a mountain lion with it.  I love it.

I asked myself that very same question. He must sell an aweful lot of them to make money ??? I'm very happy with it overall....the trigger is better than expected as I've read most here that bought new Rem's needed their trigger adjusted. I doubt if I ever do....this is already at 4-5lbs and breaks like glass...just like it should!!
Everyone else that I've seen wants $570-$650 for the same rifle. He's really quick with responses and keeps you informed via e-mails (tracking #'s) every step of the way until the rifle is delivered....great customer service!! I called my local dealer and explained to him if he could come close I'd like to support him and buy it locally....but he told me he'd be cutting his own throat for that.
I just recently bought 41 acres in the Penobscot region of Maine and if I can get lucky and draw moose tags this will be the rifle I hunt with, but until then there's always whitetail and black bear....I've found several tracks and sign of moose, whitetail, and bear on this land.

Whelen fans will find this site to be a good read.  Personally, I do not try to push MV to the MAX so the actual reloads listed are not to my taste.  Otherwise, a good site and I check it for new stuff ever so often.

You can load the Whelen to perform like a 35 Rem. (use 200 gr. RN) or 348 Win. (use Speer 220 gr. FN) or a full power Whelen (premium 225 gr bullets or any 250 gr. bullets).

You can even find loads for 158 gr. Hdy. XTP/HP bullets in the Hornady loading manual and they work fine for plinking/practice.  I have use a couple of batches of these.

I have not used any cast bullets but Beartooth Bullets markets some good GC cast bullets specifically for the Whelen.
