IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL HAVE TO RESIGN AS MODERATOR!!!

 As most of you know,I no longer sponsor this forum. The reason is simple, I can not afford to do so, at this time.
 If you post on open forum,asking if I have a catalog,it is considered a violation of advertising regulations. Consequently, I doubt if you can post about using my lures,my stabilizers or the other things I make or sell. This makes it extremely hard for me to answer a lot of the questions asked on here. I use what I make or sell when trapping.This then prevents me from suggesting on open forum, the lures I make or those of  ASA 's and those of several other lure and bait makers.
 Moderating is a non-paying job,I do it because I believe information on our way of life should be shared with others. But I find it impossible to do without mentioning some of the above things.
 I have always been proud of the way in which the majority of you guys handled yourselves on here.Infighting and bickering has been minimal. You have represented trappers in a very positive light--for this I thank you.
 Good luck to all of you,may your traps be full, and please continue to share with others.

You can still post about them as long as you aren't selling items on the forums. The items have to do with the topic of the forum therefore you can still post about them. You can't post ads or anything now. What you can still post about them and answer questions if it is on topic. Its just now you will also have to suggest others products and items now also and not just yours. I would say if someone wants a catalong refer them to PM you by your email or visit a website if you have one. By no means is this ground to resign. If you still have questions email Bill or Tim they will be able to help you.

I really have to wonder just how uniformly these policies are enforced.

Just take a look at the Optics Discussion, sponsored by Mueller.  Mueller is unapologetically offering scopes with the requirement that they are reviewed and discussed on the forum. 

Maybe I am missing something but it just seems to me that if I'm getting something for free (TV, radio, forums) I'd expect the sponsor to be able to promote his product.

That reminds me.  Tom, your beaver castor drew in beavers from the next county.

Don't go Tom!  I've been lurking here since I found GB and y'all have provided me with interesting information.  This forum has even got me wanting to do a little trapping again!  I haven't done any since I was a kid making a little extra pocket money trapping muskrats.  Got from 25 to 75 cents a pelt as I remember but that was a long time ago and I may be wrong.  I also found that they still publish Fur Fish & Game and have sent in my subscription.  All because of this forum.

Tom, I would like to thank you for doing a great job as moderator of this forum. I personally learned more talking to you here and in person than anywhere else. Maybe if the questions and their answers were tailored in the right way they would not be in violation. Anyway thank you again.

Hello Tom,,I can not believe your going to leave??? I would have never asked for a catolog if i new it would start all this bull####,You can not leave,,I have lots of questions and you give me ansewers to all my dumb questions,,and i trust your ansewers,I have only been on this forum for a short time and i gather that lots of trappers rely on yur knowledge of lots of stuff,,yu put up with bad typing and real bad spelling,i think you should just keep up the good job yur doing and the hexx with all the negative people that are on this site,and and all of us would be better for it ..Please stay around,,us rookies need guys like you  Dave

thats a great magazine. It was very popular where I lived in the midwest due to all the trapping on the BIG river. They have or had then, some of the best front page cover art in the business. Hope they still do.

Tom, If they lose you as a moderator they are doing huge injustice to this forum!! You possess a level of trapping knowledge that far out weights any small "infraction" that may have occured!! By  saying  its "OK" to do in form of PM's is like putting frosting on crap! Because you know what? It STILL tastes like crap!! Thats my 2cents! Thanks for everything Tom!
