I could like the wool pant idea for obvious warmth...however I would dislike wearing rainpants over them due to the noise they make walking through brush. I figgure the moisture wicking Cabelas MTP in medium and polar weight (as conditions dictate) with the dry plus pants or the sporthills, would work. Both the dry-plus pants as well as the sporthills are water and windproof and equally important to me - quite. I have wool for upper torso, but not lower as I like a maximum of two layers below the belt - one next to skin that is comfy, and one outer, wind/waterproof and quite. Three layers below the belt is too much IMO due to the bulk, primarly when walking . For upper torso, I'll go fleece, wool, and MT050 jacket for a total of three layers.
Esox - I sound like I have made up my mind on no wool below the belt, and that is because I worry about it itching. However, I would be interested in a few links to the wool pant you speak of. I have seen your gear links before and suspect you may have something good regarding this too. I'm sure it is something I am not familiar with indeed.
burntmuch - 10-4 on those small but important items. I totaly spaced off the mole skin. I do always bring duct tape rolled up on a twig, and forgot to add it to the list also. Yep, every single electronic device takes AA batteries. In fact, I only purchase gear made to take AA just for the obvious benefits you speak of, not to mention the simplicity.
