What is this big cat?
« on: January 28, 2008, 06:53:46 AM »
This was taken on a feeder 220 yards from the house.  What is it?

I am posting a thumb nail, which you can click on to see the full image.

It looks like a bobcat to me. If it was bigger and you were more north,I'd say a lynx.

Looks definetely like a bobcat to me. Most Lynx's Ive seen have longer legs but some are nice and fat and a closeup is needed for a look. A mountain lion would have a very long tail and that is definetely not part of that pic

I've seen a Bob cat that big here in CA.
I think mother nature is growing bigger coyotes and bobcats.

bobcats get that big, especially mature ones.. it is a bobcat, little doubt here... shot two with my encore last season... amazed how large they were...
eats plenty of birds rabbits small deer anything smaller than it ... they travel in pairs in mating season dec. Jan. around here IIRC.
nice skins... in a breeding pair, one is the tawny and spotted and the other will be steel grey with black spots and black barring behing the ears... neat looking animals... thanks for the pic

looks like a bobcat, last year one was in my backyard, after my chickens. It ran about 30 feet past me, probably weighed 40 pounds, but it had a darker pelt. Cool Picture.
