warthog addiction

I don't shoot too much for myself these days but I cannot pass up a good warthog when I'm hunting by myself. I got lucky one evening with this one. Oddly enough I had been hunting for a giant warthog several days with a hunter of mine named John. He had no luck at all finding a real trophy warthog to shoot. After he left I had the rest of the day and that evening to poke around in the bush for myself. What do you know, This bruiser shows up and ......... well his skull is in the dip pack crate now

Warthog wasn't on my list of animals to hunt, but when Pieter spotted this guy I quickly changed my mind.

I have a lot of pride in the way I run my buisiness. There are very VERY few people I trust to handle hunters who hunt with my business. Pieter is one of them and as you see he is really a top notch fella. Not just as a PH but with a wealth of history and political along with flora and fauna knowledge. He's among the best and I'm proud that he works for me!

You can say that again. We spent three days in Kruger Park with Pieter before we started hunting. He not only has the knowledge, but also the patience to deal with us American tourists.    He answered Ellice's questions with the same patience the fourth time she asked it as he did the first time.

Not on you list? Warthog is on the top of my list along with a nice kudu. Maybe one day I'll be able to afford to go there.

I only had six hunting days because we decided to do three days at Kruger park. I highly recommend the park days, but I wish I had scheduled a few more days in the trip. Since I had very limited hunting time I prioriitized my list. My priorities was Kudu, Gemsbok, Impala, and then Wildebeest. After the Kruger park visit I decided I wanted a Waterbuck more than a Wildebeest. I ended up getting an Impala, then a Warthog, then a 54" Kudu, and then a Gemsbok. I guess I will have to go back for the Wildebeest and Waterbuck.

My only regrets are waiting so long to go and not spending a few more days.
