000 buckshot[35cal]vs .350 roundball in a 36cal rifle?

Is there any advantage using cast/swaged .350 roundballs versus 000 buckshot[it is also .350 diameter] in a 36cal rifle? Is one cheaper than the other?I see Hornady sells the 000 buckshot in 5 lb bags.
Thanks.

I shoot a .36 underhammer with both the balls you mentioned and find the accuracy declines slightly with the 000buck. It is harder and loads harder. infact I have to go from a .015 to a .010 thick patch to get the little rescal to go down bore with out a hammer.

I have no data to support this opinion but suspect that buckshot is not as uniform as the balls designed for ML. I have disassembled buckshot to use the pellets for split shot and they are often slightly deformed though it may have happened during loading of the shell. They also appear to be harder than pure lead so probably have a small percentage of alloy.

Buck is definitely harder! Also, I've found the little bucks are not nearly as uniformly round as swaged or cast balls. For plinking, perhaps. For hunting or careful work, I'd forego. Besides, they do not seat very easily at all.
