coleman lantern
« on: August 09, 2008, 04:13:36 PM »
I have used white gas coleman lanterns and stoves for years[some were probably as old as I am-60]mostly with very little maintenance.I purchased an''easi-lite'' model#325 from a garage sale, looked to be in fairly good condition-except it would not hold pressure.I assumed it could be rectified by oiling the pump gasket-but not so.I tried another pump from a working lantern-same problem-air escaping from the pin hole in the pump knob. The ''on-off ''knob doesn't seem to be working either-but that could be a function of not enough pressure.I'm stumped-anybody else have this problem with a coleman lantern?

Yep. I have an ancient stove and lantern both wouldn't work after years of neglect and usage around salt water. I found all the parts to repair at Wal-mart. I believe I replaced the filler caps and pump assemblies. Or I rebuilt the pump assemblies - I don't remember. It was about 3 years ago when I did the repairs.

the problem isn't the filler cap or pump-I switched  both from another working lantern, with the same results-air escaping from the pin hole on the pump knob.it almost seems like the air isn't getting through to the main gas chamber ,or if it is-very little.I hear a slight hissing from the generator-so some small amount is getting through, but no vapourized gas

Have you considered sending it back to Coleman for a re-fit?
