RMEF Whelen...
« on: July 12, 2008, 08:30:13 PM »
Just playing around with my Whelen and discovered that it has a rather long throat.  Bought some 225gr. Sierra Gamekings and really can't load them .02" off the lands since the bullet isn't seated deep enough.  Have any of you guys with RMEF Whelens come across this?  How far off the lands have given you the best accuracy?

Thanks,

Jim

Try some 225gr TSX, they shoot 1¼-1½" in my RMEF at just shy of 2900fps with a max load of RL15, COL of 3.475" which is .035" off the lands. I've not played with seating depth yet tho, but I expect to tighten it up a bit if seated a little closer. I've also shot the 250gr Speer Spitzer .005" off the lands at 3.500", they shot right at 1".
