Interesting, but the sound of the pellet sounded kinda "muted" to me, as the PBA's out of my Shadow has a sharp sonic crack to them.

Has anybody here tried some similar stunts with their air rifles.  The largest animal that I killed with the crossman 1000x was an ant eater the size of a woodchuck.  What about you?

Totally irresponsible product marketing at its finest. GAMO the company of gimmicks strikes again. The only thing powerful about GAMO is their stupidity to put this out for everyone to see and then think they can do themselves. I see lots of people getting hurt trying to shoot hogs with a pellet rifle. I have several pellet rifles that are more powerful than the strongest GAMO and would never try to kill a hog with one.

Gimminck pellets that will in all likelyhood ruin a good spring gun and is going to be so unaccurate shot placement beyond 10 yards will be impossible. That hog looked tied down to me as well.

GAMO sucks and so does the way they present their products to a totally uneducated public.

Go shoot a 200 pound hog with a 12 ft lb energy gun using a 5g pellet and see what happens for yourself. I suggest a large caliber backup gun as you will be needing it. When I was a kid I pumped a huge opossum full of .177 cal pellets at point blank range till I got tired of cocking the rifle and it was still just as alive as I found it and that rifle was as strong if not stronger than any GAMO as well.

If they really think they can take big game with it lets see the Grizzly hunt video  ::)

That it is a stunt is to be sure, HOWEVER under the conditions he shot it in the video, it was not remarkable. A feral hog is NOT that hard to kill. We have had them here in North Texas for over a hundred years, and they are shot with everything from 22 long rifles to 450 Marlins brought in by the city boys, whom have heard the "tales of the bullet proof feral hog".
A neck shot is almost ALWAYS an instant down, and here many a hog is killed with a knife. I don't do it because they carry pseudorabies among other things. I have shot them with a 52 grain match hollow point from a 223, with a 4570 for fun, and a 357 mag rifle or 3030.
The irresponsibility I see here, is NOT one of "getting hurt" as unless you corner a feral hog he (or she) has little interest in ANYTHING other than getting away. It is "irresponsibility" to shoot that size animal with that size and type of rifle.
Now in heavy brush if you walk into a litter of pigs, and scare them, you COULD get a lap full of sow bent on protecting her young. But the charge of the LEGENDARY BOAR is MOSTLY LEDGEND. A bit of proof was evident in the video. The hog did not ATTACK when given NUMEROUS opportunities. He bluffed his way past the hunter. Also I didn't see 250lbs of hog there. The one in my avatar barely made 300, and I am a large guy (6'3" 250lbs) for comparison. Also it was a boar, and was killed with the 223 I am holding with one shot to the neck.
As somebody said, it is a STUNT, and a foolish one at that. It only PROMOTES more foolishness.
You may all go to hell, I will go to Texas. Davy Crockett

Gamo is sleezy-lame.... couldn't even see where the hog was hit.

He said in the video that the rifle was classified as a child's toy which is totally false.  I believe you must be 18 years old to purchase them in the majority of locales.

I have a little bit of experience hunting hogs with airguns.  I hunt them with a big-bore .45 airgun, but have also seen them hunted with .22 and .25 caliber airguns that are at least 3-4X's as powerful as the "Gamo Hunter Extreme" (but still only half as powerful as a .22LR) shooting far superior pellets than those crap alloy Gamos).  Every report I have heard on those alloy Gamo pellets says that they are useless.

On the hunt where the .22 and .25 pellet guns were present, there were a couple of hogs taken with them.  Also a couple that were just wounded to run off.  However, the size of the hogs taken with the .22 and .25 airguns was limited to under 50lbs.  On a hog this size, the more powerful (60-90fpe) .22 and .25 can reliably penetrate the skull of real small hogs up close IF YOU HIT THE RIGHT SPOT.  There is zero margin of error with the small-bore .22 and .25's even on very small pigs with brainshots (not just a "headshot" but a brain the size of a golfball).

One guy dis-obeyed the rules, and shot a 135lb boar in the ear twice with a 45fpe .22 pellet gun.  The hog did drop but when he returned with the ranch owner to pick up the hog, they found that it was paralyzed, yet still alive, and the rancher put it down with his carbine.  The ranch owner felt the pellets had penetrated just enough to touch the brain but could not do enough damage to the brain to kill the hog.

If you want to hunt hogs with an air-powered gun you need to get a big-bore air rifle, preferably a custom job .45caliber or bigger.  These are good for brainshots on any sized hog, and other shot placement on whatever size hog appropriate for the individual gun's power level.

I used a 228grain slug at 700fps on this wild hog this last May in Oklahoma; he weighed about 80+lbs and made for some fine eatin'.  He was about 15-20yards away.  It proved to be enough slug for the job, and my air rifle was the least powerful one on this hunt.
You can read more about the all-bigbore airgun hog hunt I put together last May 19-21st by checking out the post I made in the Hog hunting section here on Graybeards, or go to this site and read the hunt story.

The four of us all killed our hogs (my boar was the smallest) with a single .45 slug to the brain; none took a single step.  No wondering about where I hit this hog.
