bluebook says

744v 95%-$285
        98%-$345
      100%-$430

Add $20 for heavy vent rib barrel.

Had one but with a 5 inch barrel , nice gun , should have kept it , only had 1 set of grips the rubbers , had a real hard time finding anyone to give me 300 for it , it was certainly worth that , but when you have no one in the market for it life gets hard.

I had one with a 8 inch barrel and a 2.5-7 simmons handgun scope on it. Hunted deer with it for quite a while. It was a newer production though, it seems the monson made ones are easier to sell.

I had a problem with mine, if I pulled the hammer back on a full cylinder of shells it would spin past the stop, could have been dangerous but I noticed it before I fired the gun. Dan wesson took care of it and I haven't had a problem since.

I do have a monson made pistol pack in 357 that is the best 357 I own.

Minimum, $300, and that would be to a good friend. You didn't mention if it had the original box with barrel tool. $325 if you have those.  gypsyman

I'd go much higher than 300.00 for it, that would be an absolute steal on a blued well used .44. On a SS one in good condition 500-600 is about right; closer to 500 based on the barrel length as its not quite as popular in a .44 mag. Extra barrels can be had still from DW. Subtract 50.00 if you do not have the tool for the barrel.

Bluebook prices are a guide for pawn shops who rarely pay more than50% of what they can get for it.  The original Monson T style tool is a definite plus and adds to the value.  They come up for auction on Ebay(about all the gun related items the still sell) for from $10 to $30 depending if it's in original pkg or used.  The new door knob style is available from CZ for slightly more, but doesn't add to the value of an older model gun.

I recently purchased a 744 with 6", 8" and 10" barrels also included was the owners manual, barrel tool and feeler gauge.  I gave $695 if I remember correctly and think I got a pretty good deal.

You got an excellent deal for a set.  A fair price if it's a Palmer made gun, but a fantastic bargain if it's a Monson or Norwich gun.  The older Monson's have started becoming collectables and sets and the rare unfired models command much higher than Bluebook retail prices.  The Norwich guns before Cz are very high quality and commanded a relatively high price as the Cz revolvers do.  They were made for the competition crowd and were very well finished.
