Truckie, do you have any pics of YOUR handi's to share?

My 223 isn't anything special, but I did customize it.  It started off with this red laminate straight stock and a 22 hornet barrel.  I won it in a drawing.  That stock was sweet looking but I had no use for it.

I swapped stocks with another member for a monte carlo laminate.  Then I had a 24" 223 bull barrel fitted at the factory.  I sold the 22 hornet barrel for $90 and got the new barrel for $125.  Now it's essentially a 223 Ultra and looks like this.

I'm thinking of reshaping the stock a little, maybe taking some of that big cheek comb down a bit towards the front.  The rear stock looks kinda "big" compared to the sleek lines of the rest of the rifle.  Sorta like a canoe paddle.  I also have flip up caps and a cartridge holder for hunting.

Not custom, but a fine looking H&R 30-06 UltraComp...

NEF SB2 30-30 Winchester, barrel cut to 18 inches, Williams front and receiver (Latter replaced with Burris 2x7), camo straight stock. Makes a real Handi truck gun.

Please forgive me, but I just finished this project. I have several NEF/H&Rs but nothing customized yet, so I thought I would share this with you.
A few weeks ago, a friend who has a shop in a near by town talked me into buying this old Westpoint 949 (Savage 94) in 12 ga with Improved Mod. choke. I gave him 50.00 out the door for it.
Since I have this gun in .410, 16 Ga. and 10 Ga., I thought I would add a 12 for the heck of it. Wood was that nasty rust colored orange looking finish that showed little grain. Barrel had surface rust, so did reciever. I stripped all the rust off, blued with Oxpho, and refinished the wood in a way I never have before. It was an experiment. I had a light colored Minwax wood stain that I ended up mixing with some hunter green enamel I had in a can. I stripped the wood down to bare, smoothed, and applied my experimental wood finish. When it dried completely, I began to remove it with fine steel wool. I knew the green would soak into the wood and show grain. I kept working it with the steel wool until I got what you see in the pic. My son talked me into using the torch to create the stripes when the wood was still bare.
It was for fun, I enjoyed the little project, not out any money, barrel looks new, reciever is perfect, and wood is , well, it is what it is. I shot it today at the range and it performed flawlessly, busted a few targets. I am ready for any criticism now.

I ' m sorry I do not have any pics of my rifle . I bought it about five years ago and had no idea of how well it shoots . I have a 6x 24 Tasco on it . This rifle also got me into reloading. I wish I could post the target I once shot at 200 yards , most of my friends still do not believe it. My custom plan is to purchase a sidekick ( blued or stainless is still a question) and add a wood monte carlo stock and forearm and try my hand at refinishing the wood. I want to also add the .25 pistol primer breech plug. Any other advice please post

Here are a couple Handis I had custom work done to.

Here is 45/70 I had chopped to 16.5" and 27" overall.

and a 12ga USH I had fluted, tefloned, trigger job, and limbsaver pad

and a 450 Marlin that was fluted, tefloned, trigger job and limbsaver pad

and at the gunsmith now another 12ga USH to be cut down to 20", crowned, fluted, tefloned and limbsaver pad

Pictures to follow when complete!

MAN THESE ARE FUN GUNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this one is not a custom but I thought I might add a picture of it because it has from what I can tell somewhat of a rare stock set.

This is the day that the Lord hath made!!  I will rejoice and be glad in it!!

.357 mag rechambered to .357 Max, barrel turned super-lite and shortened to 18", Topper delux buttstock, handmade mannlicher forend, Simons 4x shotgun scope.

ccoorreeyy,

Who does your fluting for ya? Is the first 12ga. a stainless barrel or the teflon? What's the upgrades generally run for something like that? I haven't ever seen one that looks like that. If I lived in a shotgun only deer zone, I'd definitely be getting one of those. Looks sweet.

Fullers gun shop in "The Cove" here in middle Georga does the work for me.  There all stock barrels, no stainless.  To get one flutted, cut and crowned, trigger job, tefloned and a limbsaver grind to fit pad runs $300.  I love the way they all turned out.

How's the muzzle flash on that shorty .45-70?  And, what does the teflon coating do for you?  Is it more of a anti-corrosion coating??
