I have a hawken and a renegade from t/c and what I want to do is put a scope on one of those guns but I don't want to use the bases supplied from t/c.I want to put the scope more down the center of the barell using the existing rear sight screw holes and be able to use a EER scope. Does anyone know of any company that makes bases like that. Thanx John

Can you please explain to me what an EER scope is? I'm not sure I understand what you are asking..........

I put the T/C rail mount bases on a few T/C Hawken and Renegade barrels and share a LER T/C 2.5 rail mount lighted reticule scope between them and a Contender barrel which also wears a rail mount base.

The bases require an additional hole to be drilled and tapped in addition to the existing holes for the rear sight.

Contact me by e-mail and I will look up the part number for the base and scope. There are different part numbers for the 1" and 15/16" barrels. Although T/C sells the bases, you can find them cheaper at a number of the usual places for T/C stuff.

Thanks. My hubby has a T/C Thunderhawk that he used extension rings on to get the added eye relief. He has the problem of having very long arms and most factory made rifles are really a tad too short for him. So by using the extensions he can shoot scoped rifles without getting too close.

That's a bit different of an animal. The extended eye relief scope are normally used on pistols and are held at arms length from the shooter.

I will admit I'm not as knowledgeable on this as in muzzleloaders. So with that I will ask my question. If a EER scope is normally mounted on a pistol and held at arms' legnth, then how could it be properly used on a rifle?

The "EER" scope will be mounted down the barrel away from the smoke and fire, etc. You will have to tape it in "Test" positions to find the location that gives you a full field of view then determine if you're happy with it's location. Folks used to put them on the Winchester '94s before Winchester came out with the angle eject.

Some years back T/C made a mount adapter that required a hole drilled and tapped in the breech plug plus it used the sight base holes. They added the hole for $25. I still have the base and a weaver mount on my Renegade it works great.

There are scopes with eye relief from 3''(P-poor with a hard kicker) to 24" for pistol, and all in between. The ones that I think your needing are referred to as intermediate eye relief (IER) and ahre in between the extremes I've listed above. The well known gun writer(Guns and Ammo) and retired army colonel Jeff Cooper promtes the use of "barrel mounting" the scope on the rifle he calls his Scout concept. Thses usually have a lower magnification and wide field of view. Just the ticket for BP
