Red Dot Sights.
« on: August 21, 2008, 09:03:07 AM »
I bought a crossbow with a red dot sight on it.  As I shoot it I notice a large amount of vertical stringing. When I lay the bow on a rest and move my head around behind the sight, it appears the dot is moving around on the target.

Is this normal for a red dot? Am I going to have to take care to keep the dot centered in the scope? I always thought the dot was supposed to remain fixed no matter how your eye was positioned behind it.

I have had the same thing with a BSA Red Dot mounted on a rifle. It drove me nuts until I realized that out trying to get the rifle zeroed. Whether or not that is a problem with the high priced models( AimPoint?) or not I don't know. The Holo's are not suppposed to do it but then you can get a good scope for the price of one of them.
