ithaca 37 slam fire
« on: June 14, 2008, 08:11:46 AM »
Years ago I read that an Ithaca 37 was able to be a slam fired if you held trigger back and just pumped it back and forth.  Supposedly only the older models were able to do this.  Can anyone verify this for me and give me an idea about judging the year of manufacture of one of these guns by the serial number or other means

My brother's did that until he took it to a smith for a thorough cleaning. Seems there was a buildup of crud in the sear area. Scary thing the first time it happened.
