smith and wesson Ibolt

Just wondering if any one else has one. picked one up this weekend in 25-06 since I couldnt find a marlin in that caliber. Havent got to shoot it yet just cleaned it mounted my scope and adjusted the trigger down a bit. hopefully will give a range report after this weekend looks like I will be breaking it in with remington core-lokts since no one had any brass left on the shelf.

That rifle comes with a Weaver scope mount on it, right? I am looking forward to a range report. Also is the trigger guard built into the stock? I don't think I like the flush sling studs because I am not sure you could mount a bipod if you wanted. Dale

I have one I haven't shot yet either.  Last month Joes sporting goods had them on sale for $299.00 with a $50.00 rebate, so for $249.00 I had to buy one, I don't really know what I will do with it.  I am sort of thinking of rebarreling it and getting a reamer made up for a 20-06, I haven't heard of that one being done before.  Larry

I shot one the other day for a guy that bought one... first 10 shots (sighters) I cleaned after each shot... then started in on 3 shot groups... ( forgot to mention, it was a 30-06)  most groups were in the 1.5 to 2.5 area... best was with IMR 4350, and 165 sierra's... 3 in .75" put 2 more into the group, ended up with 1.125" for the five shots... I was impressed, but the rifle takes some getting used to.. bolt is funny.. trigger is magnificent.. If I needed one, I would consider the I bolt, I have a marlin xl7 in 270 that is a bit more accurate, and lighter, and smoother bolt..  hope this helps.. Bob    PS. He told me he paid $399 for it, after the rebate, that came with Leupold mounts and nice bushnell variable on it..

Mine came with a weaver type base but no rings or scope.  They could be had in 30-06, .270 and 25-06 for the same price.  I also notice the bolt drags on the top of the magazine feed, so that may be something that can be fixed.  The bolt has three locking lugs, so the bolt lift is short, but the throw seems quite long even for a long action round.  Larry

I just bought one in 25-06 and with 115g Nosler BTs over H-4350 put 3 shots into a cloverleaf. Measured about 5/8" center to center and very consistent from group to group (100 yards).  It also shoots 90g Sierra hp to the same point of aim which is handy.  I like the trigger but the bolt does drag some. Lubing the bolt helped but its not as smooth as the Marlin XL7 I have in 30-06.  Comparing the two I found the I-Bolt isn't as sensitive to barrel heating as the Marlin, which by the way shoots sub-MOA, but when you can buy two accurate centerfire rifles scoped (Nikons for me) for under $900 try beating that with a stick!  T

got to shoot my rifle this week. pretty pleased with the results for a stock gun and factory ammo. 3 shot groups 3/4" and 5 shots opening up to 1". cant wait to get my brass in and try some handloads to see if I can get the groups down a little more. my bolt seemed to drag also, took the magazine out of the stock and cleaned everything with gun scrubber then re oiled fixed my problem

got to use my ibolt today shot a 130lb doe at +-300yds. pretty happy with this cheapy rifle.

got less than $300 in it cause I already had a scope and rings from previous trades/purchases.
