federal fusion ammo
« on: July 22, 2009, 01:40:56 PM »
I'm thinking of trying out some Federal Fusion 180 grain in my 30-06.  The price point is good on the ammo but whether my rifles will like it waits to be seen.  I'm intending on using it for moose.  Some of the stuff I've read on the web seems to indicate the bullet structure is for thin skinned game like deer.  Anybody use this ammo for moose?  My rifles don't seem to like the Vital Shock ammo so I'm looking around.  Thanks.

Koivu,

I don't know how they perform on game, but they are dead nutz accurate.  I've tried them in 2 rifles...both .308's.  I can't handload any more accurate ammo.  IMVHO

They are basically a bonded core bullet based on the way they are made. All reports I've heard (haven't tried them personally) say they perform as you'd expect a bonded core bullet to.

I use them in my 223 and 308. Not sure I would use it for moose, it was intended as a deer rd.

I can't think of any hunting bullet in that cal and weight that would not work from a 30-06.
