I`m thinking about buying the Targetmaster.

Have you only good experience with it or?

ive got a 9mm trojan and think its one of the finest 1911s ive ever owned or shot at any price.

I do not have an STI---well, I have two--a .45 and a 9X23/.38 Super.
I do think that STI makes as good a production gun/limited production gun as you can find for the money.
I would like too own an SVI but, for the same money I would rather own 2 STI's.
I can't think of another out of the box 1911 that would be better--for any amount.
Sigs and STI are in the same arena--as far as I am concerned.

You mean that all of STI`s models - are good?
Accuracy is one thing - but do they eat everything concerning ammo?

Mine are Trojans and They have eaten everything I put thru them.
I know many who are gamers that swear by them. Their race guns are well respected.
I don't think one can go wrong with any STI.

9mms dont have a good accuracy reputation buy my trojan will outshoot most 45s. It will easily shoot under an inch at 25 yards with loads it likes and is in the top 3 for reliablility in every 1911 ive owned and those three guns are about a toss up. I had a 952 smith before it and it was just to ammo sensitive for me. Constantly jammed on reloads but shot well. I was nervous trading it off and buying this sti but it ended up not only more reliable but substantialy more accurate to boot. Ive shot a few kimber and springfield 9mm 1911s and ive yet to see one hold a candle to this trojan in accuracy or reliability. I could sell that gun for a profit at any shoot i go to. Ive been offered more then what a new one costs for it. People that have shot it are so impressed they dont even want to chance buying a differnt one. I know of three guys that shoot with me that have bought them since i got mine and they all swear by them. Whats really slick is mine is so well fit and smooth that i can get away with running a 8lb spring and shooting loads that have very little recoil and that still shoot into an inch and are a 100 percent reliable.

Then I got my T.master.

The triggerpull was very heavy, and faaaar from crisp.
I also got a lot of malfunctions.

The potensial of accuracy was there

Now it`s on it`s way for a tuningjob

Who did you get it through--dealer, that is???
A good trigger job is a good investment, in any event.
What kind of ammo caused the malfunctions and what were the malfunctions??
Glad too see that you could get it as quickly as you did. I would have though there might have been months of red tape.
Keep on letting us know how this project is going and give us a range report.

DID NOT FEED INTO THE CHAMBER. MAYBE THE EXTRACTOR IS TOO SHARP?

Fortunately - my friend is very clever concerning 1911`s - so I think it will be ok when I get it back.

my trojan came with the best out of the box trigger ive seen on a 1911. Still a tad heavy for me at 3.5 lbs but broke like glass. Now it does the same at 2lbs.

What did you guys pay for your Trojans? I have been considering a 1911 chambered in 9mm. The STIs I see at matches perform superbly.

Check the dealers for specials but It should be a grand or a little less.
It cost me more from Dawson because I get some of his other offers with it--trigger and some other changes. plus a couple of mags xtra.

I think they can be had for a little over 900. I traded a para p18 even up for mine and its the best trade i ever made.

He polished the chamber, "adjusted" the extractor and tuned up the triggersystem, and now it seem to be 100% .

He also hardened the thumbsafety - to avoid a "safety-accident".

When will your guy get the gun too you ??
When you say he hardened the thumb safety are you indicating that he made the safety stiffer to operate so as to protect from accidentally bumping it off safety ??

I don't know you or have any knowledge of your ability but it should be a one holer in the hands of the right person.
I have no thoughts or opinions on a conversion unit. You might contact STI or Dawson Precision and see if they might be of help.

Now I have shot about 10000 rounds through it - and I am 100 % satisfied.
I bought a Marvel Unit 1 - and have shot about 2000 rounds with it - and have found out that the unit prefer subsonic ammo.
But it also shoot standard ammo very well.

Yes--a .45 would be just about right.
The subsonic defeats the purpose of the weapon.
Are you allowed too reload?
I am almost angered by the lack of understanding of the people who make such laws. They in fact are not legislating anything that will prevent what they are afraid of--illegal use of firearms.
I am sure that the criminals have weapons--even where you live, and, they can get them readily. More readily than you can legally.
