no no no---all work and no play makes Topgun a dull man!  :D I have been hammered with work, working up my new Weatherby 30-378, and loading, loading, loading. I have 180 Barnes-X at an honest 3485FPS and extraction is still incredibly easy even though I am now over published max. :-D  The Accumark has an extreeeemly looong throat. ! Saturday brings the big dogs off the porch and to the range with a chrony! Stay loose.  I will let you know. Having too many toys is a real problem.   I hate having to make choices all the time, cuz time is so short! I gather from the other posts, guys are wondering when they have enough? I not there yet, but I think I'm within a hundred guns or so!   I haven't even chosen what to carry of rElk this year, and October is right around the corner.  I have the list narrowed down though. What do you think? I'm a glasser, stalker, hunter. I won't sit forever. My choices are rifle: Custom '03 springfield in '06 or 35 Whelen, or the new Weatherby 30-378-- TC's in 308, 30'06, 338-06, 358JDJ, 375JDJ, 444 Katahdin pistol, 45-70. I always carry my S&W M629 2 1/2" ported Trailboss and 300 Sierra's, or my Ruger Blackhawk in 45LC.

If I may jump in hear, I received my 338-06 Encore barrel from Bullberry a last month.  The barrel shot sub-moa at 100yds. a few weeks ago while I was fireforming the brass.  I headed to the range last Friday with some fireformed brass and a couple of different loads.  I was able to get a four shot group of .75" @100yds. and a three shot group  of 5" @ 600yds.  It is a great shooter and seems to prefer bullets of 225grs. or more.

Dalton,
Great Shooting!  Sounds like you have a keeper in that barrel.

Hey Dalton. What powder? I'm using 4064, 4350. How about velocity? It must be carrying pretty well to keep stabil over 600?

TopGun,

I should specify that this was a 23.5" rifle barrel.  I didn't stop to think about that when I replied to the original post.  Anyway here were the two loads I used.

Case - Remington 30-06 Formed
Primer - Winchester LR
Bullet - Hornady 250gr. SP
Powder Charge 1 - 52.0gr. H380 (Best Group)
Powder Charge 2 - 45.5gr. AA XMR-4064

I don't have any chronograph data yet.  I tried to chrony these loads but my chronograph just doesn't work on a sunny day.  I need some cloud cover to get positive results.

Have a good one,

David
