Hate to say it, but the flooding wiped out a lot of nests in NE Iowa. I'm sure the Canada goose population was hurt. My vet said a pair of geese had nested on a small island on their pond and they watched the high water cover the nest. Those geese renested and more rain flooded the second nest. No gooslings for that pair this year.
The rains came when many geese were nesting and unless the nest was very high, the same thing must have happened. Some of the park geese near my home did have lots of babys this year. I hope to turn some of those into freezer pets this fall.
Even seeing all the rain and flooding we've had this year, I still can't believe it. Jim
