I bought a box of the 225 grain
http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=765870 about a month or so ago. I just wanted to see how well or "not so well" it shot out of my M-29 Smith 44 mag PC. I had been shooting my handload's of 180 gr. Hornady's over VV N-110 that cronyed at 1500fps. Well, it just so happen that these 225 gr. cronyed at 1500 fps from my Smith.
The whole idea of the polymer tip is to give the bullet a better BC and more downrange velocity and energy than a hollow tip or flat nose handgun bullet. Well....that's the theroy.
Anyway....I've only shot this at the range....and I only shot 4 rounds. But, of the 4 rounds I put downrange, 3 of 'em hit the 8" target at 100 yards. And that was using open sights. Now remember....this was a Smith Performance model...I was sitting at a bench with my wrist supported on a nice comfy rest and a two hand hold.
But yeah....IMHO if I didn't have my own handloads handy, I would use these 225 grain poly-tips without hesitation.
