Handi Newbe
« on: August 10, 2008, 12:12:45 PM »
I am new to the world of the Handi rifle. And I love it so far! Just got me a new SB-2 in 22 hornet with 20in. barrel and plastic stock. Youth model. Got this for a light weight calling rifle. Topped it off with a nikon buckmaster 3x9x40. Have only shot 80 rounds so far but it is coming in nicely. My last 5, 3 shot groups were between 4 tenths and 6 tenths at 50 yards. Should get better as it gets broke in. So I'm real pleased so far.
Had to here a lot of grief at work about buying such a cheap rifle. I'm taking the target to show them that the
$ sign don't make them shoot. Got me a nice rifle that I won't be scared to carry in the woods. Next weekend I'll be trying it at 100 yards.

Sounds like you got a good one there.  My hornet is the full size barrel and seems to shoot very good.  Just came back from buying a shooting table, tired of the wobbly old folding table.  Should be able to get some better groups now, need to get some loads worked up myself.  Have several that are just getting broke in.  After that, practice in hunting positions. ;)  DP  PS, Hey Newbie, Welcome aboard!

I was at the range last week with a friend of mine. He was shooting a Remington 742 in 30-06 with a 4X Bushnell.
I was shooting my .357 Handi with factory open sights. We were shooting at 50 yards and he was impressed to say the least
when he saw that my groups were significantly better than his. He's now talking about about trading his Remington for a Handi.

Welcome!  All my Handis shoot well.  You just have to take the time to work with each one and learn the load it likes, and do a little tuning up as in the FAQs.  I hope you love it.  Pete
