pros & cons for above cartridges please , Iam building 1000yrd F class rifle & would like some info on above thanks.........

You will have to fireform the 6.5x55 of course and they will be very close from a ballistics stand point. The 6.5x284 is the most popular in 1000yd Benchrest competition right now and brass is available in Lapua, Norma, Hornady, and Winchester. Either would be a good choice with my leaning toward the 6.5x284 because of ease of cartridge availability and slightly better case shape for powder burn. The rifle will be the deciding factor in over all accuracy.

i have a 6.5x55 arch improved.  it looks cool and i didnt mind fireforeming but the 6.5x 284 has more data and you dont have to burn your barrel fireforming.

The 6.5-284 has a definate advantage all the way around. When you are talking a 1000 yds.
