Why no 20GA 'Survivor'?
« on: August 17, 2008, 05:01:19 AM »
In SS or satin nickle, a 20GA version of the 'Survivor' would be IDEA, IMO....providing some REAL 'punch' via slugs or #3 buckshot. With screw-in chokes and standard velocity #6s, it would take most any small game within 'reach'.

What you describe would have to be a hybred. They do have a Nickle 20ga in the Tamer model 20"bbl not sure on the choke but it's fixed. but to get a changeable choke you would have to have the Topper deluxe classic bbl. You could build it from available componets. Kurt

I have built as you describe which I can set up in sevaral different configurations.  One has a 22" nickle barrel with a modified choke and the second configuration it has a bit shorter 20 gauge blued barrel with screw in choke tubes. The barrel with the tubes has been shortened and tapped to accept the choke tubes. The front "Survivor" forearm nicely holds the extra choke tubes. It is a very handy gun. Mine is on a rifle reciever and I have a canvas case for it that carries the reciever, the 20 gauge barrel along with a centerfire barrel in either .22 Hornet, .243 or .223caliber, depending upon my whim at the time (I like the .223), and a barrel from a Versa Pak, again in either .22 LR-L-S, or .22 Mag., again according to my whim. In the rimfire I am partial to my Versa Pak in .22 Mag, it shoots so unbelievably well....<><....:)

he Survivor used to be available in 12ga and 20ga The gun in my avatar is a 12ga survivor with a rwgular adukt sized stock. It is a great truck/walking around the woods gun. 2 3/4" low bras shells aren't to bad to shoot either.

These turn up occasionally on auction sites like Gunborker.com and Auctionarms.com. I think I saw one listed the other night, in fact.

i think they have a youth gun thats a 20 gauge with screw in chokes i think it has a 22 inch barrel. you could then just change out the stock
common sense is slowly becoming uncommon

That would be the sb1-25c that you are talking about. Froghunter had one of those barrels on a gun with TDC stocks and I've been thinking about creating one just like it ever since.
