Oh yeah, I've loadied most everything you can imagine into pistol cases and shotgun hulls. (And a lot of things you can't imagine) ;) Never really found anything that worked as well as a single projectle in pistol cases, for anything beyond 10-15yds. Did have fun loading flechettes in shotgun shells. Can't claim that as my idea, got it from Uncle Sam.

I have tried double and even triple ball loads just for the sake of curiosity but can find no practical use for them that couldn't be done better with a single bullet. The three ball loads were .457s in a 45/70 rifle. At 65 yards only one ball would impact anywhere on an 18x24" target and that one was literally "anywhere". I moved in to 30 yards and still only got one hit on paper. I assume the force of the powder gas slammed them together and made the balls into disks which would then just flutter off wildly.
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.
