Drop-in stock for hard-kicking caliber?
« on: July 29, 2003, 01:29:52 PM »
I need to stock a .338/06 Ackley and a .416 Taylor.  The .338 should geneerate 30+ ft/lbs of recoil, and the .416 45+ ft/lbs of recoil.  The .338 is on a Czech Mauser action, the .416 on a Santa Barbara magnum action.  Anybody have recommendations for pre-inletted "drop-in" stocks that are comfortable for hard-kicking calibers?  I'd be happy with either synthetic or wood.

Thanks in advance!

I put a Bell & Carlson Medalist on my .458 Mauser 98, though I still haven't shot it. This one comes with the full length aluminum bedding block and a 1" Deccelerator Pad. I ordered the B&C through Cabelas, when I got it I called B&C to find out how much I could open the barrel channel and then they told me about the upgrade that I should get (the bedding block and Deccelerator) So I sent the stock I had bought and $60 to B&C and got the stock I have now. Really looks nice. I got the black w/grey webbing. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/pod/horizontal-pod.jhtml?id=0016120&navAction=push&navCount=2&indexId=cat20811&parentId=cat20811&parentType=index&rid=&cmCat=MainCatcat20712&_DARGS=%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcommon%2Fcatalog%2Fpod-link.jhtml.4_A&_DAV=http%3A%2F%2Fa1460.g.akamai.net%2Ff%2F1460%2F1339%2F6h%2Fwww.cabelas.com%2Fcabelas%2Fen%2Fcontent%2FPod%2F01%2F61%2F20%2Fp016120ii01.jpg
