So I danced a jig with the Devil......

And traded for a 375 H&H Encore barrel.  The question is recoil, the gun feels very light.  I have shot a 300WinMag on the Encore, and while lively, I can shoot it quite well.  I also have some experience with full power rounds in the 444 Marlin.  I load my own so I plan to start out at the 375Win level and work my way up.  Was just wondering what the thoughts were from those who have tried it on the Encore.  And, aahhmm, has anybody seen my soul?

Ric I have the Encore in the 375 H&H I love it. Recoil is there but not as bad as u would think. I shoot Remington 270 gr. factory loads and they shoot great out of my gun. Take your first shot standing and take the scope off just so you can get a feel for the gun and not have to worry about getting hit with the scope. Hold the gun tight to your shoulder and fire away I think you will be surprised that the recoil is not as bad as you thought it would be. 375 H&H great round you will love it.  Let me know what you think after you shoot it. :)

I am a 375 H&H Mag. enthusiast but, as you noted, the Encore is light.  When I had my 375 H&H Mag. barrel, it wasn't too bad shooting it off hand or off of sticks but for shooting it off the bench, I used a lead sled.  Also, the stock design of the Encore, makes it easy to get your face cut on the scope with recoil if your aren't very careful about where you keep your head.  Mine didn't have a brake; I think a brake would make one less likely to get a scope bite as well as tame the recoil a bit.

I took the pictured Blue Wildebeest with my 375 H&H Mag. Encore before I sold the barrel (after I acquired another 375 H&H Mag).

I was up at my favorite gunshop over the weekend and was looking over the bullet selection and found a box of Hornady 270 grain 375's.  The box was so old that it had a hand written price - $8.90!  Yep, it came home with me.  Upon opening the box I found that the bullets had become brown, I'm guessing that this will not affect their performance.  Now for some brass and dies and I can start rearranging my shoulder.
