Custer Memorial Trapdoor Question
« on: August 22, 2008, 02:50:33 PM »
It is my understanding that the Custer Memorial Trapdoor Carbines came with two books about the battle - does anyone know the titles of the books? I would like to get them to go along with my rifle.  Thanks, Steve

It is my understanding that each piece in the "Custer Memorial Issue" - there were 25 officer's models and 243 enlisted men's models produced - each one individually serial numbered and inscribed with the name of one of the men who fell during that battle - was accompanied by the two volume history of Custer's life and each was numbered to the piece it accompanied.  If that is the case, it will be next to impossible to find the volumes that should accompany these highly collectible pieces, if not accompanying the piece.
There are several other issues, that present the Trapdoor rifle and carbine in more or less "standard" issue configurations.  One of those was called the "Little Bighorn" model, but that one did not include the numbered historical volumes.
