130 gr fngc for 32 mags?

C.E. Harris mentions your 130 gr. fn in an article on cast bullets in military rifles and says as an aside that he recommends it highly as a 32 mag revolver bullet.  Since I have 32 revolvers and one levergun and plan on either a 7.62x39 or 30x30 for ranch rifle needs, that weight would seem like a pretty good all around choice.

Would it work well deep seatted with light charges of fast powder as you touched on in Your book for the revolver?  Lastly, can I have a 4-cavity cut with one cavity gc and the remaining 3 cut pb?

Sure Veral could make the mold for you. I have a 120gr LBTGC bullet design that is set for a maximum length for the single six. It drops at 125-127 using WW lead and a little heavier if I go to 50/50 ww to pure lead. I will say in the 32 mag, the bullet I feel really is as heavy as you should go, heavier will just take up case capacity with no ballistic gain. Now in a strong 32/20 or the new 327 Federal in a custom single six or a full sized Buckeye I think a heavier bullet might have some merit but in the 32 mag stick to Veral's 120gr.

And yes he can make a 4 hole mold with just one hole being gas checked, I don't know what the additional charge would be but it would be pretty nominal I am sure.

  Fowler gave you straight answers.  In fact I only recemmend the 120 gr for 32 when one want's the most power possible from the gun, which is about 1400 to 1450 fps using H110. And it is a pussy cat to shoot, but hits like something that kicks hard.  It will also work well in your 30-30 or  7.62 at 120 gr.

  I charge $10 to switch from gc to pb in one mold.  Number of cavities for each type doesn't matter, be it 2 or 4 cavity mold.  The $$ is for the tooling switchover.

verals 120fngc is one of those bullets that just plain works. Its my favorite heavy for the 32s. Ive yet to find a gun that wouldnt shoot it well. I use it in my 32 mag revolvers my 3220 rifles my 3030 rifles and my mini 30 and if sized properly it works extremely well in all of them. If it came down to it i could probably get by with just that mold for all of these guns.

  Sure do.  All the 296 or H110 the case will hold with some powder compression.  Don't go too heavy with compression with any revolver load, as the powder pressure will assist recoil in making your bullets jump crimp.
  This load will get you really hooked on that little pocket full of lightening.  Sounds like a 38, feels like a 22 but sends it's poison package out there like a good stout 357 load!  A European customer used this load to take a 400 pound boar here in the US some years back.  One shot through the ribs and out into the dirt.  The hog ran only 20 yards or so and fell over dead as a hammer.  The wound will only be about a half inch diameter or a bit over though, so precision shot placement is mandatory for such a quick kill on something large.

Lloyd and Bill are talking about 2 different bullets. I happen to have some of each that they both sent me for testing. The bullet that Bill is talking about is longer and heavier than the one that Lloyd is talking about. I have a custom Alan Harton 327 Federal on a Single Six Bisley. The bullets Bill sent me are too long for it but would work fine in my Buckeye after I rechamber from 32 mag to 327 mag The bullet that Lloyd sent me weighs 118 grains by my scale and is excellent in my custom 327 Federal. I am getting 1550 fps with it on H110 with just a tiny bit of compression. Pressures are mild and recoil is non existant. Accuracy is very fine and the bullet seems to carry very well at longer ranges. Thank you both.

Veral, both of these bullets are gas checked, I would LOVE to have a 4 cavity of each, can you say how much that would be?

  Yes I can make whatever number of cavities one orders in gc and pb.  The swithover price is $10 extra.

  When you order a 115 gr you get real close to 120 gr in gc, ditto any weight ordered, add about  gr for the gc.  120 gr is the best weight for the little Ruger single six.  The bullet, when gas checked, will stand far more speed and pressure than the revolver can deal out, so for rifle use one can easily get 2400 fps in most 30 cal guns, and if ordered in .314 diameter will fit a host of rifles of 308 and larger up to that size.
