Legal High Power Silhouette Rifle Stock?

I have a stock Remington 700 varmint rifle in .308 that I would like to use to try rifle silhouette shooting. It has an H-S Precision synthetic varmint stock that measures 2.25" inches wide  just forward of the floor plate. Otherwise, it looks like a sporter stock. I found the following rule on the NRA website that seems to say that my stock isn't legal because it's wider than 2.0":

"3.1 High Power Silhouette Rifle (d) Stock: The stock must be traditionally styled and may not be bent and/or twisted so as to deviate from
conventional configurations such as factory rifle stocks or silhouette stocks as manufactured by Fajen,
McMillan, H-S Precision, and others. The forend, including the trigger guard mounts and screws, shall not
exceed 2X inches wide,..."

Can anyone tell me whether my stock is legal?

While your stock is not legal, by all means, go shoot. I'm pretty sure no-one at your local club will turn you away. You will not be allowed to use the stock, however, at any regional, state or national matches.

Without making it a very long story, stock dimensions were put in place for both standard and hunter class rifles to keep the equipment race under control.

My rule book is the 2003 edition and it states the forend width is 2.25.

A pdf with the current rules are posted on the NRA website. I don't understand the logic of the rule though. This HS-Precision stock is the one that Remington uses on most of their varmint rifles.  It's a very common stock and looks quite conventional, MUCH more conventional looking than a "legal" silhouette stocks. I don't see how it provides an advantage for silhouette or contributes to an arms race, just the opposite. I have asked the NRA silhouette guy for clarification before giving up on the idea.

gwlee, I read the rule on the NRA website and it states 2X wide and deep measured from the centerline of the bore, I don't know if this apply's to both wide and deep or just deep, but it is stated in the same sentence. I rechecked my 2003 rulebook and it does say 2.25 wide and deep. If the wide part isn't measured from the centerline of the bore a lot of factory varmint rifles will be illeagle.
