I give up. The more I look the more confused I get !

Everyone has a good or bad comment about the scopes I'm looking at. I'm just going to throw the names in a hat and have my grandson pick one out. Maybe I will get lucky.
    Nikon Pro-staff
    Pentax
    Bushnell banner
    Simmons pro-hunter
    Sightron I
     Millet

I have had experience with two of the ones on your list. That would be the Nikon and the Bushnell Banner. Of those two I would pick the Nikon. The Nikon is a great scope for the money. Dale

Nikon Pro-staff... I have several, they all work fine.

Bushnell banner... have two, budget priced, they work well also, some models have 4"-6" of eye relief, a big plus on an economy scope.

Sightron SI, have one, wouldn't buy another,  the Prostaff is better for the same money.

I have most of those.  I really like the Pentax but the eye relief leaves a little to be desired.  The Simmons are good but the light transmission isn't the best.  I really like Nikon and would probably go with that one.  I have a couple of Millets and they seem like decent scopes as well.  I don't think you will be disappointed with any of the ones you listed.  I'd go to a large gun/sporting store and look through as many as are on your list and see which one feels the best to you.

Nikon Prostaff, lifetime warranty, clear and bright on the edges with a good field of view and reasonable eye relief.

Get what you really want, even if it is not on your list.  A good scope is a lifetime investment.  Good glass is always good glass.  It makes no sense to compromise, even if the costs hurts a little at first.

Thanks guys, I will go with the Nikon pro-staff and put my Nikon 4x40 on my new Rugeer .358 Hawkeye
    Just want to say there are a a lotof good people  here who help a guy out.

Nikon Pro Staff, have one. Bushnell Banners, have many, all good scopes. One Sightron, it's okay, not going to buy another. Simmons Pro Hunter, very good scope, have one.
