Dovetail in barrel pulled out

The barrel in question is a very early 10" factory barrel in 357 Herrett.  Over the years it has become a favorite and therefore been used relentlessly.  It consumes a regular diet of 180 to 230 gr. slugs loaded toward the high end of available specs.  The dovetail in the bottom of the barrel used for the forearm attach lug has again pulled out and will not hold the T-nut under recoil allowing the forearm to part ways, which isn't any fun at all.  The last time this happened it was welded up and recut and it has lasted only about 1,000 rounds.  It seems the weld material isn't as rigid as the barrel material.  Anyone know of a better fix than welding and recutting.  The first repair was done by the manufacturer.  I may well build it up and recut it myself as I think I can do a better job.  Either that or I may weld the T-nut in place permanently.  Tell me what you think.

Over the years I've had the standoffs permanently welded on several of my TC handcannons - all way more recoil than your barrel, up to a 10" 416 Rigby barrel.   Never had one shoot loose, even after thousands of rounds fired.

  I could be wrong, but a lot of times this happens because the metal washer in the screw hole gets lost. The screw then can be screwed deeper than it should go. This pushes up on the T nut, bending the "ears" of the slot. If you can, or have done, install some pillars to support the fore arm and prevent over tightening the screws.
