I bought a really nice Remington M14R some years back. Its chambered in 35REM with a factory peep. Well long story short, NOTHING I could load seemed to shoot that well in it. A good friend of mine had been pestering me since he found out I owned it to buy it. I also have a fondness for Rem Pumps and this was my nicest piece and said no.
Well I tell you, I was pretty frustrated one day and was on the brink of taking him up on his offer. When a buddie and I decided to shoot up all remaining ammo from a standing, offhand position at 50 yards, fast shooting. We put up a running deer target and both began shooting. The target was riddled when we where done, looked like Swiss cheese!! He asked if I was done and I said I was out of ammo. He still had a half box of Rem 200RN factory ammo. He asked if he could shoot my rifle, I said sure and handed it over. He proceeded to dump 4 rounds almost touching into the head of the deer target!! We walked up to confirm. I was dumb founded... We stepped back and I was also able to do the same thing. This was reg yell/green box Cor-lokts. I was always under the assumption that no matter what gun, I could increase its accuracy with my hand-loads. NOT with this rifle, at least I am not able to find the load that will do it!!
No matter, I don't use it much, its more of a bragging gun, something to take out when friends come over to fondle and admire. but if I ever need it to perform... I'll have some 200 Rem RNSP readily available!!
