Is a Nikon Prostaff 450 any good?
« on: August 27, 2008, 04:09:44 AM »
I will only shoot out to 350 yards because I have practiced out to that distance.  I am looking to buy a decent used range finder.  Almost all of my hunting is on pretty flat ground so I don't think I need the degree of angle feature.  Just a dependable out to 400+ yards.
I have never owned one so I need some help here.  If there are features I should consider please include.  Thanks  Buckfever

If it's rated to 450 yards that means on a highly reflective target not on a deer or other game animal. I suspect it will not range a deer over 300 if that but you might be able to find a bush or tree or some other large reflective object near by to range on. If you're prepared to shoot at 350 yards on game I'd definitely recommend a rangefinder rated to at least 600-700 yards if you want to be able to range deer at 350.
