Hello,

RE: 7mm-08 Handloader


Anyone have any experience with this bullet on Whitetail Deer?

Does the bullet seem to be a little tough for thin skinned game or does it open up?

I use the standard Core Lokt bullets on axis deer, fallow deer and a hog in 7mm-08 and think that there is no need for the Ultra. All have exited and made nice wound channels. Just my opinion. I am biased to standard bullets though, as I'm not too sure about the marketing hype of premium bullets.

Bryce Towsley had a recent article about Premium Bullets that included the Ultra Core Lokt. Made sense to Me. For the common Whitetail, The deadeliest mushroom in the woods has always worked. To go on a high priced Hunt, I would use the best available. The last time I did this, it was with Nosler Partition, but I'll bet that the Core Lokt / Win. Silver Tip/ Speer Hot Core/ Hornady Interlock and The Sierra Game King would of produced the same Dead Trophy Stag. Must of been My Shootin'
