another newbie question
« on: September 07, 2008, 02:32:08 PM »
I'm loading .44 special rounds and my manual's MIN OAL seating depth for my bullet will put the cannelure outside of the crimp. My question is should I seat the bullet acording to manual specs or should I always crimp in the cannelure?

jw

You do not have to crimp at the cannelure in most cases , but when using platted or thin jacketed bullets its a good idea to use them as sometimes the crimp will cut the jacket or platting and leave it in the barrel when the bullet is fired .

A lot of bullets don't even have a cann to crimp at .

I'm using Nosler JHP so I guess I better stick with the cannelure.
