E. Arthur Brown Accuracy Barrel ?

Does anyone have hands on experience with E.Arthur Brown accuracy barrels.
And are they worth it?

I do not have first hand knowledge. I do know a guy that bought one in 22-250 for an Encore. He got it with 1-12" twist rate as recommended by the company rep. He was very unhappy with his. It never shot to his satisfaction. I think there were head space issues or a chamber issue and the twist rate was too fast for the bullets he wanted to use. He sent it back once and they said there was nothing wrong with it. He ended up selling it on e-bay (back when you could) and buying another one from another custom house, Bullberry I think. He was satisfied with his new barrel so it was not like he could not be made happy.

I have a 30-06 Ackley Improved accuracy barrel from ebco for my encore.......I would show my groups I have shot with it but having trouble getting into photo bucket  ::).....but less than inch groups are common with the barrel. I am having great success with mine and would not hesitate to get another barrel from them......

  I have one in .223 with 1:12 twist and have had great results with mine. Fit, finish, accuracy all great. EAB states that the 1:12 twist is best used wth the lighter bullets.  I have found that mine will shoot up to 55gr. bullets just fine. I never tried anything heavier. Your friend was probably trying to shoot 65-70gr. bullets.

My E. Arthur Brown accuracy barrel story is rather convuluted.  I bought one from another member on this forum used.  He had the barrel made in 6.5/06AI and then sent it to OTT (On Target Technologies) and had Mike rechamber it to 264 Win. Mag.  The barrel was in excellent condition when I recieved it but was unhappy at first because I couldn't get even mediocre accuracy from it, but I measured the COL from case had to rifling and the throat is waaaaay looooong in it.  I had been trying to shoot 140 grain Hornady Interlock bullets and I found I couldn't get within a quarter inch of the lands so I bought a couple hundred 160 grain Hornady Jacketed Round Nose bullets and seat them out as far as possible which puts them at .010" off the lands.  I don't know who reamed the throat so long, or whether it was ordered that way.   I am still in the load developement stage but I think it will shoot very well with this cartridge/length setup.  I am planning on elk hunting with it next month.  BTW, this barrel is nearly free from copper fouling after a fairly long range session with it.
