Bottleneck Prep for MOLY rounds
« on: August 02, 2003, 10:44:00 AM »
I now shoot a fair number of calibers using moly-prep'd bullets.  I really like how clean they leave the barrel, and minimize clean-up. However, I've read hints lately that imply there are better ways to prep the brass, to minimize moly removal/damage during the reloading process, esp the neck prep.  Anyone know anything about this?   Newer, improved tools?  ALL help/info appreciated!!

Bottleneck Prep for MOLY rounds

Most of my moly use is in .223 cases which I trim on a Gracey. The Gracey leaves a chamfered mouth if you set it up that way and is all I've needed to ease moly bullets into the cases without scraping it off.

I understand Lyman makes a chamfering tool for VLD bullets which might work even better but I haven't tried it. I've heard of some shooters polishing the inside of case necks with steel wool wrapped around some sort of tool, chucked in a drill but that's WAY too persnickety for my lazy behind.  :D

Cheers!
