A couple quick questions before I post Butler's line from this family...
I have an alternate death date for William of 23 Apr 1817 in Wolf Creek, Overton Co., TN.  Have you come across this before?  Do I have the wrong William?  The Bradshaws were one of those families that liked to use certain names repeatedly and it's very possible this William belongs to a brother or uncle of William, husband of Susannah.
Also, I have 3 additional children that I'm not sure of for William and Susannah:
Field (born before 1755, died about 1812 in Burke Co., NC)
Elizabeth (born about 1761, married Charles Williams 24 Nov 1795)
James (born about 1763)
Again, these children may belong to a different William Bradshaw.
Since this family, for the most part, is pre-Kentucky (and one of the further out branches from Butler's main lines), I've depended on researcher information at the local library (the Bradshaws are tied to many of the people here now in Adair Co., KY) and the Internet (genealogy sites).  Any help/clarification/corrections you can throw my way would be greatly appreciated.

William Seth Bradshaw was born about 1755 in Cumberland Co., VA, possibly as early as 1748 in Fluvanna Co., VA (I've seen both dates).  He was the son of William and Susannah Robinson Bradshaw.  Sometime before late 1784 he moved to NC where he met Anna Lowe.  On 10 Dec 1784, he married Anna, daughter of Isaac and Mary Ann Browder Lowe, in Wilkes Co., NC.  All of their children were born in NC before the family moved to KY, sometime between 1806 and 1811.  Their children were:
1. Celia "Lilly" - born sometime after 1784
2. William (middle name may have been Larner) - born about 1788; married Charlotte Williams, daughter of Drury and Martha Guinn Williams, 25 Jun 1805 in Burke Co., NC.  Charlotte was born about 1790 in Rockingham Co., NC.  William died in Aug 1868 in Adair Co., KY.  Charlotte died about 1843, also in Adair Co., KY.  Both are buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  *this is Bill's (aka Butler Ford) line*
3. Isaiah - born about 1794, NC; married Martha Sarah "Sally" Miller, daughter of John Miller, 29 July 1816 in Adair Co., KY.  Isaiah died about 1855.
4. Isaac - born about 1796, NC; married Rebecca "Polly" Williams, daughter of Aaron Williams, 14 Dec 1817 in Adair Co., KY. [Unsure if/how Polly's father Aaron is related to Charlotte - see #2 above - Charlotte's father, Drury, had a son named Aaron and his father's name was Aaron]
5. Elijah - born about 1798; married Mary Murray/Murrah, stepdaughter of John Carter, 28 Sep 1815 in Adair Co., KY.
6. Millie - born before 1800; married Nathaniel A. or C. Miller 21 Jul 1817 in Adair Co., KY. [Unsure if/how Nathaniel is related to Sally - see #3 above]
7. Anna - born before 1802; married Obediah Bradshaw 15 Mar 1819, Adair Co., KY.  [Unsure who Obediah's parents were]
8. Sarah "Mary" - born before 1803; married Greenberry Wilson 7 Mar 1820 in Adair Co., KY.
9. Seth Jefferson - born 25 Oct 1805 in Burke Co., NC; married first Sarah Quinn "Sally" White, daughter of Thomas and Nancy Abrell White, 28 Jan 1828 in Russell Co., KY; married second Thersa/Thirsy Medaris 19 Oct 1846 in Adair Co., KY.  Seth died 9 Mar 1873 in Adair Co., KY.
10. Charlotte - born about 1808; married John White 31 Aug 1826 in Russell Co., KY.  Charlotte died about 1900.  [Unsure if/how John is related to Sally - see #9 above]
William Seth Bradshaw was a farmer, owning slaves to work his land.  He wrote is will 9 Feb 1826 at his home in Montpelier, Adair Co., KY.  The will was executed between 26 May 1826 and 9 Oct 1827.  Anna ran the farm, with help from the slaves, for over 25 years after William Seth's death.  She died in Feb 1852 after being thrown from a horse.  She was 85 or 86 years old.

I've got another quick question...sorry, trying to go back and forth between my FTM database and this forum.
I'm showing a second wife for William Bradshaw, husband of Susannah Robinson.  I'm showing an Elizabeth, widow of unknown Harper.  It's from one of those pre-source citing days (yes, I'm kicking myself now and looking at the pile of manila folders I've got my "hard copy" in, wondering how long it will take me to find that particular piece of paper and hoping it's identified...).  Have you ever heard of this marriage?
Thanks for any clarification.

Deb, On the question about William Bradshaw. I also have a death date of April 23, 1817 in Wolf River, Overton County, Tennessee in my files.

On the question about William Bradshaw's second wife. I have also found Elizabeth Harper linked to him but I don't know anything about her.

On the three children: Field, Elizabeth and James. I will have to go through my notes to see where they fit in.

I hope some of this helps.

Deb,

I found this in some notes I had.
Field Bradshaw born before 1755 and died about 1812 in Burke Co., NC was the son of Field Bradshaw and Judith Robinson.
Elizabeth born about 1761 and married Charles Williams on November 24, 1795 was the daughter of Josiah Bradshaw and Elizabeth Armistead.

Field and Josiah were the sons of William Bradshaw and Judith Scruggs.

I didn't find anything on James born about 1763.  I will continue looking for him.

Thank you so much Faye.  It's been difficult sorting through the several Bradshaws and Robinsons whatwith so many of the names being repeated each generation as well as siblings families.  The information here in the local library is compiled of family group sheets submitted by several researchers as well as a small book (which I found several mistakes in - Bill's lines - and it made me question the "newer" information, but the older information seemed pretty well researched).
I'll make the corrections and, again, thank you so much.

Deb, You are welcome.

When I was doing research on Ursula Bradshaw and Miles Abernethy I found out that they had named their first child Seth after Ursula's brother Seth.  I then started looking for a Bradshaw couple that had a son named Seth and a daughter named Ursula.  I found out that their parents were William Bradshaw and Susannah Robinson. After finding Seth's and Ursula's parents, I then wanted to know more about Ursula's siblings and especially about Seth and his family. The Lord took care of that when He sent Bill and you to GBO.  I thank the Lord each day for you and Bill and the help you have given me on Bill's Bradshaw line.

Faye,
It was really great to meet and talk with you today.  I'm so glad we both went to the shoot.  Now, what shall we do for our outfits for next time?
On the way home, I remembered I'll be at the local library tomorrow night (monthly genealogy meeting).  I'll see what I can find to help us fill in more on the Bradshaws - to be posted here - and I'll tell you what they have on Ursula and you can tell me if they're right!  HaHa!

Deb, It was nice to met you and talk to you, too.  I am also glad that we both went to the shoot.  On the outfits at the moment I haven't gotten a clue.   Maybe you can find something about Ursula that would be right for a changes.  :-D

Thanks again for the information on Bill's line.

Faye,
Looks like the main little book I've been using to figure out the Bradshaws doesn't have much more than you do on Ursula.
The book is "My Bradshaws and Their Allied Families" by Carrie Bradshaw Bolin.  I believe it's a private, limited number of copies book compiled for family and the genealogy society.
On page 6, in listing the children of William and Susannah:
"The nine children of William Bradshaw (II) and Susannah (Robinson) Bradshaw, as indicated by Census of Burke County and Lincoln County, North Carolina, and by deeds of these counties:
...
7. Ursula Bradshaw, "Usley," marriage bond dated October 6, 1781, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, to Miles Abernathy.  Both living in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina - 1790 Census.  They moved later to Lincoln County to land deeded to Miles Abernathy by William Bradshaw."
Nothing more on Ursula...sorry.  It does have quite a bit on her parents and ancestors, however.  Do you want me to post some of it here?
I'll check the surname files at the library the next time I'm there and see if anyone has put in any Ursula information.
Deb

Bradshaws

Faye:  I just began looking at your posts and responses regarding the Bradshaw family and find it very interesting.  Very near to where I live there is a Bradshaw family whose landholdings and lineage go as far back as the landgrants from the King of England.  My properties have been traced back to that landgrant, so for me the research of the Bradshaw name is quite interesting.  I wonder if there is any relation to the Bradshaws you have been researching.

In addition, I have been trying to both research and establish my mother's lineage from the Schoharie Valley of New York in the pre-revolutionary days.  We got hung up on the wrong name for a while, as my Mom suffers Alzheimer's and is easily confused, making geneological research somewhat difficult at times.  Once we got past the 'wrong' name, I felt as though I had seen the correct name in my research.  Fortunately, the Schoharie Valley folks have maintained some fairly accurate records or their ancestors and decendants so I am hoping I can establish the direct link between my Mom's family and some of those from the pre-revolutionary settlements.

Interestingly, the Schoharie Valley of New York, in pre-revolutionary times, was seen as a part of Albany.  During the revolution, Albany fielded two regiments, the 15th which was from the Albany area proper, so to speak, and the 16th, which was from the Schoharie area.  The 'correct' name from my Mother's lineage shows direct links to many of the officers and men of that regiment - now all I need to do is figure out which one is the correct link.  Regrettably, if you listen to my Mom she will tell you that may not be as easy as it sounds because many of the folks from that area were rather 'chummy', or quite 'friendly' with each other and establishing the correct lineage may be a bit difficult.

Would you possibly have any tips or suggestions on how to finalize this process or is plain research the key?  Thanks Faye, I appreciate any insights you could provide.  Please give my best to the GB.  Hope you are both well.  Mikey.

Mikey,

The first Bradshaw that I have is John Bradshaw born in 1664 in England; immigrated to Virginia between 1683 and 1687; settled in Henrico County, Virginia.

Please post the Bradshaw line that you were telling me about. I would like to see if there is any connections.

Yes, the key is research.  I would do research on everyone that has the same last name as your mother's family did that lived in the same area as her family.  I know this is alot of work but when we don't know very much about a line it is best to research everyone with the same last name.  Later on if you find a connection to each person you will not have to go back and research them again.

You could also search for wills, deeds, marriage records. Even the Census will help a little.

If you would like feel free to post any line you are working on.

Faye:  Give me a chance to find my historical information on the Bradshaws locally.  The deeds to my properties list a Bradshaw, an Elizabeth Bradshaw I believe, going back to 1895 or so and I'm certain there is more information availalbe.  The family is still local and still lives on some of the reamining lands from the early landgrants.  This could be very interesting.  Thanks for the response.  Mikey.
