Lee Crimp Dies-Which to get??

I've been looking to get some more lee dies.  I've liked the ones I've received thus far.  I do like the factory crimp die.  I've been looking at all that they have to offer and I just don't know about all the differences in the sets they sell.  I'm thinking about the deluxe set and then buying a crimp die to go with it.  Do they offer any with all that is in the deluxe set with a crimp die?  Do I need the "just necking die" that comes with it or is it a waste of money?

Just checking, You want to neck size AND factory crimp?

Many guys like them, personally I feel the factroy crimp is a waste of money and just isnt needed. I would never think of using one for neck sized rounds.

Just my humble opinion.

Minnesota, when we pack in i always use my Rem 700 7mm mag and have had problems with shells in the past. bullets end up seated too far in from the rifles recoil and sometimes they end up all the way in the case. We have also had them vibrate out on the pack trip in (horseback) and to solve this problem i bought the lee fact. crimp die and it has never let me down since its purchase. Means a lot when your 15 miles back in somewhere.

Your problem was/is neck tension.
 Sure embedding the mouth of the case into your bullet will hold it there, but so would properly set up loading dies and loading practices.

You just need to reduce the diameter of your expander ball a bit. How do you think we all survived before Lee brought it out?

Whether to crimp or not depends a great deal upon which cartidge and what type of rifle action you are using.

I have been shooting neck sized(Lee collet die) Lee factory crimped loads in a 30-06 bolt action as my standard hunting load for a couple of years. I tried all sorts of seating depths with out a crimp and found loads crimped into the cannelure of a Hornady bullet gave me better accuracy with a number of loads. BTW, no problems  with neck sized cases with feeding or extracting. I am convinced that the factory crimp makes one's loads less sensitive to many variables just like Lee claims. That makes load development much easier and more straight forward. I am an engineer and my analysis of my shooting statistics bears this out.
CW, you are obviously a reloader of considerable experience and refined technique. You are exactly tight about the issue being neck tension. I guess the FCD is a lazy man's way to control it. That is why I love it.

I'm lazy too! The LFCD takes a lot of the hassle out of loading, and in my experience the same good results as fussing with expander ball dia.  I use it on everything I load.
