Hogs in MN, oofta!
« on: August 28, 2008, 11:37:20 AM »
The MN DNR got several reports of a wild hog (not just a pig without a home), so one of the officers went looking for it.  Well, he found it and killed it and it didn't look anything like a domestic pig.  The DNR would like to know how it got here, did someone release it or did it wander in from someplace?  They encouraged anyone coming across another one to kill it and file a report.  I had sort of thought it might be fun to have something else to hunt and eat but the experts say they would endanger our native game especially ground nesting birds like our ruff grouse.  >:(

They have been in denial for some time now. Where was it killed?

Don't recall where this one was killed but I believe it was in the southern part of the state.  They thought they also had one near Detroit Lakes where I live but a woman shot it because it was bothering her horses and it turned out to be a pot bellied pig that someone had dumped.  It had tusks and a rather unsavory temperament.  The other one was a European wild boar looking critter but not very big, they didn't say how old it was.
