more I trade more confused I get
« on: September 22, 2008, 05:54:16 AM »
have been trading a bit lately and come up with a rem 700 bdl dm free and clear. Traded a 700 ml in on a encore 25-06 this weekend. Trouble is I HAVE to get a new muzzleloader and the remington is too nice of a gun. I worry about scratching it shooting from a bench. Encore I like as well or better so I will swap off the remington. At this point would like entire new ML and can get another barrel on the trade (I think about 800.00 trade). Would like a 270 as several of us use them but I will be reloading so can shoot about anything. Be nice if it was low recoil for my son (30-30 recoil or less) thinking about 6.8, 7mm-08, 260 etc. What are your thoughts guys?? I have a rem 22-250, the encore 25-06, handi 223 and old 22s and 30-30 and a bad itch to buy more barrels so where should I start??
Thanks,

This is really confusing too me.

OK, you have a Remington 700 BDL DM, what cartridge, new or used, scope, mounts?

You traded a Remington 700 muzzleloader for a T/C Encore 25-06 rifle this weekend.

You need a new muzzleloader?

If you trade the Remington 700 BDL DM for an Encore muzzleloader you want a 270 barrel?

Just sell the Remington 700 BDL DM outright and buy a muzzleloader & 270 Winchester barrels for your newly acquired Encore.

700 bdl dm 270, used, leupold vari-x II 3-9x40 and leupold mounts
traded 700 ml plus a little boot, gun cost me big bucks last 2 years slow firing or not firing, do not trust it anymore.
I have to buy a new muzzleloader don't I??? ;D ;D ;D
would like a encore 270 for same caliber as my brother, sold him a ruger 77 compact and nikon buckmaster all like new for $400 (he got a good deal,I hope,) from a trade I made
Should I buy encore muzzleloader or just barrel and forearm?? difference of a couple hundred and I would have an extra frame?
My son is recoil sensitive and loves breakovers, he has a handi in 223 but I want him to step up a caliber. Any suggestions? If I buy entire muzzleloader we would each have a frame. How much trouble re-sighting after barrel swaps if I stay with 1 frame? I have a 22-250 remington for varmints, encore 25-06 deer or varmint, shotguns and 22s for small game. Sorry Yooper77 but it is confusing to me also ??? ??? :-\

OS, the sights/scope stay with the Encore barrel, so if you leave the scope on the barrel it should be dead-to-rites where you left it when you changed barrels.  Whether you buy a whole new Encore frame and barrel set-up or just get a ML barrel and forearm is your choice.

I would keep and use the Remington 700 BDL DM in 270 Winchester with the Leupold Vari-X II 3-9x40 and Leupold mounts, pretty or not its a hunting rifle.

The 25-06 Remington you already have in the Encore isn't much different vs the 270 Winchester Encore barrel you want for deer.

I would focus on a 209x50 Encore barrel with a Leupold scope and Leupold scope mounts.

If you want your son to also have a Encore then a complete rifle is a good idea and trade off the Remington 700 BDL DM  if its a money thing and you feel like you not going to use it anyway.

You will not have to re-sight in, if your scope goes with each barrel, unless you use one scope for many barrels.

thanks yooper77, that makes sense. I can swing the money now and sell the 700 if I ever get in a bind.
