Hornady makes neck size dies that are at least supposed to be more general in nature. They usually come in a short and long or large and small. I've not tried them so can't say how well they work. I buy one properly dimensioned for my cases.

The Hornady catalog indicates their New Demension Neck Size Die #046044 will accomodate the 7mm Rem. Mag and 7mm-08 Rem. For the 7x30 Waters you will need #046049.

From page 72 of the 2008 Hornady Catalog.

I have never tried any commercial versions but the market has.  Herter's marketed a series of "universal neck sizers", using interchangable sleeves in the 60s.  But, for what ever reason, they didn't gain much popularity.

I have made a few such neck sizing sleeves for a universal die body myself but really did't much like using them.  They, or at least mine, didn't give me very staight necks!   :D

Think I'll stick to Lee's Collet Neck Sizers, for now anyway.

Have used one in a 30 cal. "short" variety for neck sizing my 300 Whisper rounds.
Did not want to go the custom route for a neck sizer so I called Hornady and got the recommendation of the above mentioned die.

Works great for the Whisper I have (bolt variant based on Rem action) It is a relatively low pressure round compared to the ones you have however. Cases slide in the chamber smoothly and without a problem.

Hope it helps.

I have a Hornady 22 Cal neck Die #046040. It is intended to do all .224 necks. I found it will not do 22 hornets at all, it does not squeeze them down enough to hold a bullet due to the Hornets thin necks. I have tried it on 223 and 221 FB. I was not getting satisfying results with those either. I ended up getting a Lee collet die for the 22 Hornet, 222 Rem and 223 Rem. I tried to get a custom 221 FB from Lee and they told me I could not get one due to it's short case. I could get one for the Hornet that is the same length, I still can not figure that one. Any who, I got a Redding type "S" neck sizing die for the 221 FB, the kind with interchangeable dies. I think the universal die would work if the neck thickness is just right. It definitely will not work with turned necks, but the Lee collet die will and so will the type "S" with the proper sized dies.

Not that it matters but just looking back in the Hornady catalog, the 22 Hornet is listed under the "22 Cal Short, Item No. 046066" along with the 218 Bee, 22 RCFM-Jet and the 22 K-Hornet.
