Picked up some 180gr Hornady HAP bullets to try in a Ruger PC4 carbine. Dug out the Hornady manual to pick through powders and now I am a bit overwhelmed. I'll be honest, I have pretty much only ever used Winchester 231 for my pistol rounds, but no 231 recipie is listed, and besides I think it is time I expand my powder experience a bit
. So I am looking here and have a few powders that look promising and should be easy to get locally. Anyone have any comments on HS-6 or Power Pistol? Why these two? Well, according to the manual a person can achieve 1000 fps (actually I do realize it will be more out of a carbine as the loads in the manual were run through a pistol....but I digress) without going to a max load.
Any comments?
