25-06 accuracy
« on: September 16, 2008, 04:18:37 PM »
I realize this has probably been beat to death but I was struggling with the search function... I did read where the 25-06 has a 1-10 twist though.

Is this typical accuracy from a stock 25-06??

The only thing I forgot to write on the target was that the barrel temp was just over body temp, it didn't get very warm with these 6 shots

This belongs to a co-work who is heading out on an antelope hunt

Well, heck... can't get the pic to come up, try the direct link to the image

My 25-06 Ultra will shoot the first two rounds touching or real close to it if they aren't, then the third round will open a 100yd group to about 1", that's with two different factory loads, Federal 115gr partitions and Hornady 117gr BTSP, not the light mag, never tried them. It shoots so good I've never felt the need to handload for it. ;) This is pretty much typical for the 25-05 H&R.

Thanks, that is really some link you posted! I always wanted one of the mini sharps they make in a small caliber.... I will let him know this might be pretty typical groups. I was somewhat surprised that it liked the 120s over the 100 gr bullets (In just a 6 shot test)

Mine really likes the 117gr I had tried using 75gr to shoot varmint with but they are about what you show in your pic. Kurt

Hildy shoots the 75gr Vmax @ 3800fps with devastating accuracy, here's another 25-06 thread with his reply and several others.
