Scope. Rings and Rail For Huntsman
« on: September 04, 2008, 05:33:14 AM »
Hey,
Saw some pics of Busta's and was wondering what scope, rail and rings he used.
I'm looking at a simmons 4x32 pro diamond simmons medium rings and the H&R rail.
Will that allow me to leave on the rear sight?

Thanks for your help,

wls

A fixed power scope should work fine in medium rings as long as you can mount it far enough back to put the ocular bell behind the hammer, that's where the interference will be if there's a problem on that end. I have a couple 4x32 scopes in low and extra low rings with a little hammer trimming, see the FAQs sticky. The rear sight may be another issue depending on the length of the scope, the only way to know for sure is try it.  ;)

S&W 3-9x42 scope, standard H&R/NEF scope rail, Warne Maxima Quick Detach high height rings. Depending on where your ocular bell ends up in relation to the hammer, you might be able to get away with mediums. Don't know on your scope whether it will work or not.

It may not be pretty but it works. Way, way back when I bought the gun the store put the rail on for me. Its a remington brand rail, but I cant remember the number but its the only one like that they make (or used to). It starts with a 7 and it only has 3 digits..ie 777. I just have standard weaver see thru mounts. It may not be pretty but I have killed many deer with my fiber optic sights and scope. As you can see....plenty of hammer clearance regaurdless of if you want to use see thru mounts or regular mounts. I personally dont care what things look like as long as they work, but some people are different.
