« on: November 19, 2008, 03:54:13 PM »
I have blued 26" custom shop barrel. I am wondering what loads you guy are shooting in yours. I have had good results from the 130gr accubond and imr 4350. I am now trying some sierra 120gr fbsp and the 140gr sierra btsp. Thanks for any info

I'm working on some loads now with 140 gr Hornadys, RL25 and IMR7828.  I hope to get to range soon, but I've been trying now for months.

I have a 26" Eabco accuracy barrel that was rechambered to 264Win by OTT.  The chamber was throated so long that the only bullet that I have been able to shoot with any accuracy is the Hornady 160 RN.  I have them seated 0.010" off the rifling which just leaves enough bullet in the case neck to secure them.  I am using H1000 Hodgdon powder and Winchester Magnum primers.  This is my favorite rifle to shoot for distance even with the low BC of the round nose bullets.   With the Burris Blackdiamond 6-24X50 w/ Ballistic Mil-dot reticle I can ring steel targets at 500 meters like its childs play.

Have you tried the Hornady A-Max?  IIRC, they are pretty long compared to most bullets in the same weight range...

I had a TC custom shop barrel and I shot the 129 hornady softpoints and got erratic results....dropped one deer in its tracks and the next two the bullet blew up...couldn't find an entrance hole and no exit...said all of that to say this...I would stay away from the lighter (120's) and stick with at least 140s...the 130 accubonds look promising. I am a 6.5 fan ...I am hunting now with a 6.5 rem mag.
