Scope for 7-30 Waters Pistol

What brand scope would you reccomend for a 7-30 waters contender 14in. pistol.  Something that will handle the recoil well and hold its zero.  This is my first scoped handgun.

Depends on what you want to do. If it is for hunting in mixed country, I would stick with a 1.5 - 4X scope. If you hunt in plains, maybe a 2 - 7X. In tight woods you might chose a red dot or use the irons.

If you just shoot target, get all the power you can.

Sorry, just reread your post and you were looking for a brand, not a type of scope.

I have several scopes ranging from cheap to fairly costly. I am happy with most of them. If money is no object, buy the best. Otherwise, on cheap scopes,  I have had luck with Tasco, Bushnell, and BSA.

Don't feel bad MnMike.  With no intended use given my first thought would be to do just what you did.

I'm old school... so I suggest you ALWAYS buy the best glass you can afford.   Cheap optics end up costing you way more in the long run, if not money in frustration.   

The 7X30 is not a cannon, so any of the quality brands will hold up to it.   

Biggest selection is from Burris, the Bushnell Elite 3200 is a great scope, so is Nikon's Monarch and Encore.   They can all be bought without breaking the bank.   The only good pistol scope Tasco made IMO was the Pro Class, long discontinued.   I don't like Leupolds pistol scopes, but I'm sure they would give you good service too.

I've been using T/C recoil proof's 2x7 for years and they have done me well, using Weaver 92A mount and Burris Signature Zee rings. This is the set up on my 7-30 and it is rock solid.

I have one custom shop 15" with a bushnell trophy 2x6x32 works great

i have a 14 stainless hunter in 7-30 i have it toped with a 2-8 or 7  nikon weaver base with three split rings by leupold.. thing is rock solid

I agree with Greybeard.  I have  Bushnell Trophy's on my 7-30 barrel and 30/30AI barrel and both have performed flawlessly after several hundred rounds.  I also recommend the Burris Signature Rings, they are the best, IMO.

I have become very fond of my Nikon Monarch 2.5-8x.  It works great and is crystal clear.  I also has a quick focus ring on the eyepiece that lets you get a really good eye relief, even at 8x!

I also like Leupold's fixed power scopes the "FX" models which they offer in 2x and 4x.  I'm not crazy about their variable power scopes.

WHAT, there`s more than 1 brand of sopes? I only use Leupolds and highly recommand the 2 1/2 to 8.

I've had one of these on my 629 44 mag for a few years and shoot nothing but full load 44 loads from it. This scope has never moved or once failed me. It's optics are clear. Can't ask for more from a $130 scope.

My Pistols have Leupold, Burris, T/C, or Tasco Pro Class (if you can find them).  If I find any of these brands at a good price, I pick them up.  Just can't seem to go wrong with them.

I have had a few of the cheaper brands, and did not have good luck with them.  The eye relief was usually not quite right for me or repeatability was not there.  I have not had any pistol scopes actually fail, but have had a couple of rifle scopes (Simmons and BSA low $ models) fail on mild recoiling Contenders (hornet, 270 Ren, and even 22LR).   

You just can't beat a Contender .22LR with rifle scope out the window of the drivers door.  Hold it in a taco hold with elbow on window sill.  Fast and deadly on sage rats and other critters.
